Looks Like Prince Harry May Be Set On Marrying Meghan Markle
Remember that romantic vacation we told you Prince Harry was taking Meghan Markle on to Botswana? According to US Weekly, it turned out to be quite the event, and it’s likely that Markle may be one step closer to becoming Harry’s Mrs.
According to the magazine, the couple arrived in Botswana on August 4th where Harry had already made plans for an intimate surprise party for Meghan’s 36th birthday so that she could meet a number of his friends in Africa for the first time.
“He was thrilled to bits that he could introduce her to them,” says the pal. “The celebration began almost the minute they touched down.” With a barbecue set up at his friend’s house (“Lots of local foods were prepared,” says the friend) and music playing, everyone partied into the night, says the pal: “Meghan was speechless and so touched.”
Furthermore, the new issue of the magazine quotes two sources as saying the 32-year-old Prince was planning to propose to Markle during their three week stay. While Harry didn’t tell friends details about his plans, he did share that he hoped to propose close to the anniversary of Princess Diana’s death “so he can associate August with something joyful” For Harry, Botswana is especially close to his heart because he visited the country soon after Diana passed. He’s previously referred to it as his “second home,” adding, “this is where I feel more like myself than anywhere else in the world.”
One royal insider says Harry has known for months he’d propose to Meghan on this trip and that he worked closely with a jeweler, and took a page from big bro William’s book by using a piece of his mom’s jewelry. William used their late mother’s 18-carat sapphire engagement ring to propose to Duchess Kate, while Harry, says the insider, “had diamonds taken from a brooch he inherited from Diana.”
In the meantime, don’t expect a wedding announcement anytime soon…
“Harry said he would want to enjoy the news between the two of them before word starts spreading out,” says the source. They have plenty of memories to bask in. Adds the source, “This has really been the trip of a lifetime.”
