O.J. Simpson Granted Parole

It was the the parole hearing seen around the ‘net!

Earlier, O.J. Simpson’s live parole hearing streamed across multiple channels and as millions tuned in, he was granted parole. In an unanimous decision, O.J. is almost free .

70-year-old Simpson, who was convicted in 2008 of an armed robbery involving two sports memorabilia dealers in a Las Vegas hotel room, could be out of prison as early as Oct. 1 after serving the minimum nine years of a 33-year sentence according to ESPN. O.J.’s daughter Arnell made a statement during the hearing, saying her father had handled his jail time like G–a good guy that is. She said “… On behalf of my family, his friends, we just want him to come home.”

In a closing statement to the 4 Nevada Parole Commissioners, Orenthal said:

I had no intent to commit a crime. … I’ve done my time. I’d just like to get back to my family and friends — believe it or not, I do have some real friends — and I tried to be helpful to everybody.

Interestingly, during the hearing, O.J. had to clarify several times that the property he “stole” during the night he was found to have committed a crime, was found to be his in a separate court hearing. He’s probably wanted to get that off his chest for years.

Were you tuned in?
