Prince Harry Stays In Toronto With Meghan Markle An Extra Day
Prince Harry just can’t stay away from his bae too long! The Prince made an unplanned detour 1700 miles to see his rumored girlfriend Meghan Markle in Toronto this week, according to multiple outlets.
The UK Sun reports that Harry cancelled plans to take a flight home Sunday after a seven-country tour of the Caribbean as part of his royal duties:
A pal said: “Harry just couldn’t wait to see her.
“He was due to fly back to London on a British Airways flight with the rest of his entourage.
“But he changed his mind and diverted straight to see her as they couldn’t bear to be apart.
“It’s just another sign of how head-over-heels he is about her.
“He is absolutely besotted. We’ve never seen him so happy – it’s great.”
Apparently the feelings are mutual, as Meghan was photographed stocking up on groceries and flowers over the weekend in anticipation of his arrival. She was also photographed wearing a necklace with the letters M and H on it…
A friend of the actress recently told PEOPLE that she is “head over heels” for Harry and “doing everything she can to make the relationship work.”
Harry’s also doing the MOST to make the long distance relationship work because aides were telling the media that the Prince would fly directly home even moments before he skipped that British Airways fights.
According to the British Daily Express reports
A Daily Express reporter asked one aide: “Can I just check, is Prince Harry flying on BA to London from Barbados tonight? The aide replied: “Yes.”
And at a pre-tour briefing at Buckingham Palace, the communications secretary for William, Kate and Harry, Jason Knauf said he’d be travelling directly from London to the Caribbean and back again after the BBC asked if he might see Markle in Canada.
There’s been a bit of an uproar over whether Harry’s detour will cost taxpayers but apparently the Prince will cover the additional charges of his own travel, while taxpayers cover the costs of his bodyguards.
According to the Express:
Combining a taxpayer-funded flight home from an official visit representing the Queen with a trip to see his girlfriend also appears to be in breach of assurances given to the National Audit Office by the Royal Household in 2004 during an investigation into Prince Andrew’s travel.
“Members of the Royal Family are entitled to grant-in-aid for official travel, as are their staff and, where capacity permits, other officials. They meet their own costs, however, for private travel. In order to avoid confusion, combining private and public engagements in the same trip is actively discouraged.”
Kensington Palace said it had no comment.
It’s worth noting that in addition to NOT flying home as scheduled, Prince Harry ALSO added an extra day to his trip to Toronto, according to Page Six.
Gotta love new love.
