Alleged ISIS Convert Jaelyn Young’s Case Heads To Trial Next Year
The Mississippi college student accused of plotting to run away to Syria with her boyfriend to join ISIS will plead her case in front of a judge next year.
Jaelyn Delshawn Young and boyfriend turned co-defendant Muhammad Oda Dakhlalla, 23 will head to trial January 16 to fight charges that they tried to flee the U.S. over the summer to Syria to get married and then join ISIS. They’re charged with conspiracy and attempting to support a known terrorist organization.
The feds said Daklalla and Young made statements sympathizing with the terror group and denouncing the U.S.
BOSSIP revealed that before Young’s arrest, her social media profile took an increasingly hardline religious stance.
The FBI said the couple already confessed.
The trial was supposed to begin Oct. 26, but Young switched lawyers and her new attorney said he needed more time to go over the government’s evidence.
Young and Dakhlalla have been held without bail since August, and if they’re convicted, they face 20 years in prison and $250,000 in fines.
