Jaelyn Young And Muhammad Dakhlalla Charged With Supporting Terrorists

The Mississippi college student accused of trying to flee the U.S. with her boyfriend last month to join ISIS has been indicted for the alleged crime, BOSSIP has learned.

A grand jury chose to indict Jaelyn Delshawn Young, 20, and her boyfriend Muhammad Oda Dakhlalla, 23, on charges of conspiracy and “attempting to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization,” the couple’s Aug. 26 indictment reads.

The feds believe Dakhlalla and Young planned to fly to Turkey, and then slip into Syria, where they’d marry and join the so-called Islamic State of Iraq. The pair were nabbed at the Columbus, Miss. Airport Aug. 8, and have been held without bail at the Lafayette County Detention Center ever since.

Dakhlalla and Young made statements online pledging their support to ISIS, and after their arrests, confessed that they had planned to join up with the hate group in Syria, according to the U.S. Justice Department.

If they’re convicted, Young and Dakhlalla face 20 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and lifetime probation.

The case will head to trial next month.

Last month, BOSSIP revealed that before her arrest, Young’s Facebook profile morphed from that of a regular college student to a more hardline, extremist stance, supporting a blog that encourages Western women to come to Syria to marry ISIS terrorists.

Young’s lawyer, Kenneth Coglan, declined to comment to BOSSIP Tuesday.
